What Calanq is today
Calanq is a collaborative art project run by the Calanq Collective. Right now this site lets you join a waitlist, answer a survey, and look around. Anything you see in a demo, including artists, pieces, events, and prices, is staged unless we clearly say otherwise.
Joining the waitlist doesn't get you an account, a membership, or any guaranteed place in the first crew. It means we'll write to you when we're ready.
What we expect from you
- Tell the truth in the survey. Polite answers are worse than honest ones.
- Use your own email address.
- Don't try to break, scrape, flood, or reverse-engineer the site.
- Don't impersonate another artist or claim someone else's work.
No AI, no generated work
Calanq is for work made by hands. Once the Workshop opens, AI-generated, AI-assisted, or digital-only pieces won't be accepted, and putting them up as handmade will get you removed from the crew. See the manifesto for why.
Who owns the art
You do. Nothing you send us gives Calanq ownership of your work.
When the Workshop opens, the deal is that every hand that touches a piece stays credited on it, for good. The exact rules for remixing, credit, and splitting sales will be written down and agreed before anyone trades anything. "No rights reserved" in our footer is a joke about the spirit of the thing, not a licence. The art belongs to the people who made it.
The Calanq name, logo, and the words and design of this site belong to the Calanq Collective.
No promises, yet
This site is provided as it is. It might go down, change, or stop. We'll do our best to keep it working, but we can't promise it will always be available, and we aren't liable for losses caused by using it, to the extent the law allows.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
Leaving
You can leave the waitlist whenever you want. Reply to any email we've sent you and we'll take you off and delete your answers. Details are in our privacy page.
Changes
When Calanq turns into something real, these terms will change a lot. We'll update the date at the top, and if a change matters to you, we'll email you about it first.
